William McDonald "Macky" Jones was a devoted family man and generous friend whose warmth, humor, and love for others left a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew him.

William McDonald "Macky" Jones, 77, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on October 16, 1948, in Hinesville, Georgia, to Robert Waverly Jones and Lillian C. R. Jones.

Macky proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1968 to 1971 as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. Following his military service, he lived a life marked by hard work, friendship, and a genuine love for people.

He found joy in the simple things in life. An avid golfer, he loved spending time on the golf course, fishing, and keeping his lawn looking its best. He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Whether you had known him for years or had just met him, chances are you would soon be affectionately nicknamed "Bubba Head" or "Hamma Head." His humor, warmth, and gift for storytelling made him a friend to many and a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. Those who knew him will also remember his beautiful bright blue eyes, which, combined with his bigger-than-life personality, made him a man they would not soon forget.

Macky was a man of extraordinary generosity who would give anyone anything, even if it meant going without himself. He always made those around him feel that no dream was too big or too small to pursue. Through his unconditional love and unwavering support, he taught his family how to make the most of what they had and showed them that a little, when shared with love, could become a lot.

He is survived by his daughter, Samantha Murray and her husband, Peter; his son, William McDonald Jones II; and his daughter, Chanel Jones. He was the proud grandfather of Amelia Murray, Peter Murray, Charles Moore ("Chas"), Meagan Moore, Mitchell Huggins, and William Huggins, and cherished great-grandfather of Carter Moore, Luke Moore, and Eleanor-Mae Moore.

He is also survived by his siblings, Keith Jones and his wife, Mary, Maxine Thorpe, and David Jones and his wife, Lori; along with his brothers-in-law, Harold Champagne and Chris Bishie, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Waverly Jones and Lillian C. R. Jones; his siblings, Robert E. Jones, Annell M. Jones, Waverly P. Jones, Linda Jones Champagne, Kim Jones Bishie, and Wayne Jones; and his brother-in-law, Alan Thorpe.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Macky's life on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Richmond Hill Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a funeral service immediately following in the funeral home chapel.

Macky will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his easy smile, his stories and laughter, and the way he made everyone feel like an old friend. Though he has left this world, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered prayers, love, and support during this difficult time. A special thank you is extended to the compassionate staff of Treutlen County Health and Rehabilitation for the tremendous love and exceptional level of care they provided during Macky's final months.
