William "Billy" F. Smith, age 79, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018.

Billy was born in Savannah. He was very proud of being a graduate of Benedictine Military School.  He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and was a sharpshooter.  He retired from Sears and Roebuck after 35 years of service.

Billy was a 4 ^th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus at Council 5588. In 1974 he served as Grand Knight and in 2010 he received the Gartland Award.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Von Waldner Smith and a son, Michael Smith.

Billy is survived by his children, Margaret Chamberlain (Tommy), William F. Smith, Jr. (Paula), and Kelly Herold; his grandchildren, William Chamberlain, Jr., Christopher Herold, and Haley Herold.

Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 11, 2018 in the Martha-Mary Chapel of St. Anne Catholic Church.

Memorial Mass: 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 12, 2017 in the Martha-Mary Chapel of St. Anne Catholic Church.

Inurnment: Catholic Cemetery, Savannah, GA.
