Velma Stewart Harward of Savannah passed away June 9, 2023 at the age of 81.

Velma was a very loving and kindhearted person.  She had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. Velma's thoughtfulness and generosity will never be forgotten.

She was a hard worker, devoted wife, and always had a special place in her heart for animals.  Velma was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, and friend to all.  Our hearts will never be the same without her; however, we are at peace in knowing that Jim and Velma are together again.

She is preceded in death by her father, James Marvin Nance, her mother, Ozeal Stewart Nance, and her husband, James (Jim) Bliss Harward.

Velma is survived by her brother, Kelton Nance; cousins, Roger and Silvia Nance; and long term canine partner, Sam Harward.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to your local SPCA in memory of Velma Harward.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 19, 2023 at Lakeland Memorial Gardens in Monroe, North Carolina.
