Tommy James Phillips, 65, surrounded by his loving family, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024  at St. Joseph Hospital from a long-term illness. He was born in Charleston, West Virginia and spent the majority of his life in Richmond Hill.  He worked in construction for 45 years alongside his family, with many of those jobs leading him out of state. He retired from Colby Enterprises when he became ill.

He met his wife, Charlene, in Savannah amongst friends. They later married and built a beautiful life together of 40 years that was filled with love and laughter. Tommy and Charlene have two children, Ross & Amber. He was an avid hunter and fisherman with his fondest memories being a member of Belfast Hunting Club. He enjoyed his afternoons outside in his yard gardening, feeding wildlife, and always finding something to work on.  On the weekends, he spent his time being master of the grill and washing his truck. He enjoyed his morning coffee while watching black & white TV such as Andy Griffith or John Wayne, and in the afternoon it was a NASCAR race.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents,  Dennie & Catherine Phillips; brothers David Phillips and Ronnie Phillips, sister Bonnie Donaldson along with his beloved chocolate lab, Reba.

Tommy is survived by his wife 40 years, Charlene Phillips of Richmond Hill, son Ross Phillips (Shelby) of Richmond Hill, daughter Amber Williams (Jimmy) of Rocky Ford; brothers, Tony Phillips (Maia), Paul Phillips, Richard Phillips (Anita), Bobby Phillips, all from Savannah, and sister Belinda May (Charlie) of Jacksonville, FL., along with several nieces and nephews, and other extended family.

Richmond Hill Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Services will be held at Richmond Hill Full Gospel Church on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
Visitation will be from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm, with services to follow

Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Fleming, GA.
