Timothy Byron Sharpe passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his wife and children, with the sound of grandchildren playing in the background. He was just a few days shy of his eightieth birthday.

Tim was born on February 15, 1946 in Savannah, Georgia to Doyle and Elise Sharpe. He grew up in Savannah the eldest brother to three siblings, and was a graduate of Jenkins High School, Class of 1964. Ever popular in school, Tim was elected by his peers to be president of the senior class.

Tim attended Milligan College in Tennessee, where he would go on to graduate with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Chemistry. However, by far the most important thing he did at Milligan was discover the future Mrs. Becky Black Sharpe, with whom he would happily spend the rest of his life.

Above all else, Tim was a follower of Jesus Christ. He accepted Jesus as his savior when he was thirteen, and his faith in Christ was the center of his life and the marriage and family that he led. Tim followed his devotion and faith with service to his community through the body of the church, serving as a deacon, a Sunday School teacher, an elder, and small group leader. Tim and Becky proudly led their family to church every Lord's Day! Starting each week in communion and devotion in church service was crucial, and the Sharpes faithfully attended Community Bible Church in Savannah as their church home.

Tim Sharpe loved the sport of basketball. He shared that love with his two  little brothers and sister, and then eventually with his own children and beyond, leading a family legacy of service to the sport at the highest levels as varsity and college athletes, officials, athletic directors, and coaches. If you are near a Sharpe, there is no doubt a basketball is close by.

Tim was preceded in death by both parents and by his brother, Gary Sharpe, with whom he is at this moment surely laughing. He will be sorely missed by many, particularly by his devoted wife Becky and their three adult children: Lauren and Walt Barnes of Savannah, Andy and Amanda "Mandy" Sharpe of  Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, and Annie and Jason Breneman of Richmond, Virginia. Likewise, Tim is survived by his brother Gerald Sharpe and wife Nancy, and sister JoAnn Spivey and husband Allen, and many nieces and nephews. To Tim's legacy he leaves a growing number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Christian Timothy Barnes, Carson Barnes and wife Kassie, Cutter Barnes, Caroline and husband Garrett Collins, Sadie Barnes, Blaise Breneman, Anna Grace Breneman, Everett Breneman, Asher Sharpe, Ava Sharpe, Addison Jayne Sharpe, Adeline Collins, Colton Collins, and  Archie Collins, who will all remember their "Papa" with joy and fondness.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 14th, 2026 at the Richmond Hill Funeral Home Chapel with visitation being held one hour prior to the service.

Private internment services will be held in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
