Savannah - Star Plunk Weed passed peacefully at her home on January 21, 2017. Star grew up in Athens, Alabama, and graduated from Athens College. While attending, she met her husband, Arthur, who brought her to his hometown of Savannah where they raised two daughters. Star worked as an educator and guidance counselor and retired from the Chatham County School System after 31 years. Never at a loss for words, and full of spunk, Star made a lasting impression on everyone she met. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Arthur; two daughters, Courtney and Maury; brothers, John Plunk and Joe Wade Plunk; nieces, Liza Weed, Katie Tosh, and Jenny Hodges; and nephew, Joey Weed. Star is also a proud Grammy to Josh, caring kindred to countless others, and a doting companion to four-legged friends.
Her family will receive friends at her residence Wednesday, January 25 from 5 - 7 pm.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11 am at Laurel Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send remembrances to St. John's Episcopal Church, 1 West Macon Street, Savannah, Georgia, 31401.
