Shaun Blackwell Houston, age 69, passed away Sunday October 3, 2021 at her home in Richmond Hill, surrounded by her family.

Shaun was born in Hopewell, Virginia.  She is a former resident of Charlotte, NC, and lived a number of years on Wilmington Island.  She has lived in Richmond Hill for the past 11 years.

Shaun started her nursing career at Presbyterian Hospital.  She worked as a Hospice nurse in Charlotte and she retired from Candler Hospital as a registered nurse.  She was warm and compassionate with all of her patients.

She was a Spirit-filled Christian since 1981, and her faith and walk with the Lord Jesus was most important to her.

She loved the beach at Tybee Island, taking sunset pictures, and going to Blue Angels airshows.  She became a fan of April the Giraffe and followed her online.  She also enjoyed six cats over the years who gave her wonderful companionship.

She loved Southern Gospel music but also enjoyed Oldies and Motown.  Her children and grandchildren were her life.  Shaun was the most loving, caring, and nurturing woman.

Her husband, Robert says that "Shaun is the love of my life and always will be.  I will always be thankful to God for her, and her extraordinary love, and companionship which is beyond compare."

She is survived by her husband Robert Houston of Richmond Hill; a daughter, Sharon Houston of Richmond Hill; 2 sons, Patrick Adcock (Kijofa Ellis) of Gainesville, FL, and Daniel Houston (Desiree) of Richmond Hill; her sisters, Peggy Beatty of Mount Holly, NC, and Deborah Waldrop of Attleboro, MA; her grandchildren, Alex Dykes, Payton Houston, and Lillian Houston; and her grandson Alex's father, Christopher Dillon of Richmond Hill.

Visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm, Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Richmond Hill Funeral Home.

A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Oak Hill Cemetery.
