Whether you knew her as Mama, MamaMac, Granny, GrannyMac, Grandma, GG, or MsMac, she's not someone you're likely to ever forget, and you knew you were special when she'd crochet an afghan for you.

(Mary) Ruth MacMillan of Richmond Hill, GA entered heaven on August 13, 2021 at the age of 92.

She was born and raised in Savannah, attended Commercial High School, and was the youngest of 6 children born to Corley and Ruth Zittrouer.

Mary Ruth was well known by legions of children at St. James Catholic School where she was a crossing guard for many years.  Later, Ruth attended Manpower Technical School, where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse, and went on to become a much-loved nurse at Chatham Nursing Home.

When Mama entered heaven, she was met by four of her children that preceded her, Paul, Christine, Dan, and John, along with her granddaughter, Pamela Starr, her parents, and all of her siblings.

Burial will be private.

She is survived by 3 children, Ben MacMillan (Susie), Craig MacMillan, and Susan Mendenhall (Russ); 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Richmond Hill Funeral Home.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Dr. Wally Holland, who kept Mama going strong for many years, and her caregiver, Tereasa Tyson, who provided Mama much peace in her final years.
