Robert Wayne Jones, 71, passed away at his home in Richmond Hill, Georgia on September 20, 2023. Wayne, an Army veteran, was known as a tinkering man. He was always working with his hands building or fixing something; cars, computers, or finding ways to improve his home.  He even turned his handy skills into a lengthy career by working most of his life at Savannah Morning News and First Baptist Church of Richmond Hill. But Wayne was more than a hardworking handyman—he was a good human. He didn't always know how to express how he felt with words, but you always knew that he cared. More importantly, he never shied away from someone who needed help; a yard that needed cutting, a wall that needed a fresh coat of paint, or a car that needed jumping. He just wanted to help however he could. He even went as far as to build a life-sized wooden airplane for the children of VBS at his church—all so they could have a memorable experience. But we have to tell the whole truth. He was also stubborn. When Wayne made up his mind, he meant it. As frustrating as his stubbornness could be, it came with an upside. It meant that when he made up his mind on something important like who he loved, he would do whatever he could for them. As much as he would have loved to have had more time, ultimately, he lost his battle with a long-term illness under the care of hospice.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert W. and Lillian C.R. Jones, siblings Robert E. Jones, Annell M. Jones, Lynda Jones Champagne, Kim Jones Bishie, and Waverly P. Jones.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia Guyton Jones; a son, Mason W Jones and wife Jennifer Jones (Strong & Truman); a daughter Bridgette Jones (Ethan & Des); a son, Nicholas R Jones and wife Lauren Jones. He is also survived by his siblings; Macky Jones (Teresa), Maxine Thorpe (Alan), Keith Jones (Mary), David (Lori), and brothers-in-law Harold Champagne, and Chris Bishie; a plethora of nieces and nephews and all of R.W. and Lillian Jones family. The memorial service will be held at Richmond Hill Funeral Home, 8901 Ford Ave, Richmond Hill, Ga, Saturday, September 23rd at 11:00 a.m.
