Robert Bernard Jett, a man cherished by his family and friends, passed away at the age of 83 on October 12, 2024, with his loving wife of 35 years, Lucretia, by his side.

Robert, affectionately called "Bob" or "Jett" by many, was born May 18, 1941 in Helena, AR, to the late Lonnie Jett and Annie Mae Bland. After graduating from Eliza Miller High School in 1959, he entered the United States Army and served for 20 years before retiring as a Major. A lifelong learner, Robert obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Hampton University (formerly known as Hampton Institute) and a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Southern California.

A man who enjoyed community work, Robert was a Mason and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and was honored as his chapter's Man of the Year. During his post-military career, Robert taught Economics at Midlands Technical College and served as the Director of Bright Futures with the Department of Corrections in Columbia, SC, before retiring from state employment. Robert and his wife, Lucretia traveled frequently and later relocated to Pooler, GA.

Robert is survived by his wife, Lucretia Robertson Jett; his 5 children, Melvina Jett Washington (Brian), Ramir Jett, Imari Addison, Randy Cooper (Natalia), and Jordan Addison (Kozue); 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Linda Hunter and Francette Lindsey; brothers-in-law, Andrew Robinson, Jr. (Shawn) and Michael Robertson; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and lifelong friends.  Robert was preceded in death by his sister Annette Baker and his son Robert Jett Jr.

Robert will be interred at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC.
