Richard Brock Coleman, Sr., 64—passed from this world May 11, 2017 at St. Joseph's Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Savannah, Georgia, Ricky (as he preferred to be called) was preceded in death by his father C.B. (Chuck) Coleman and brother, Steve (Tiger) Coleman. Ricky is survived by his beloved children Katie and Brock Coleman, his mother, Marie Coleman, sister, Sandy Coleman Ward, brother, Bruce Coleman (Susan), life partner, Candace Means, and many nieces and nephews.

As a 1971 graduate of Jenkins High School and later Armstrong State University, Ricky gave 35 years of service to State Farm Insurance before retiring in May 2015.

Ricky loved being a father. His energy was in entertaining and raising his own and so many other children to look for the fun in life. Work hard, play harder, and help others whenever possible—these were the obvious lessons he taught. Ricky thought he loved the beach at Tybee Island, but only until he discovered the Great Ogeechee River. Being on the river, boating, fishing, pulling the largest and newest inner tube made that year, full of grinning kids up and down the Seven Mile Bend and back again—and laughing as he threw us into the river—are the memories we will keep forever.

In Heaven, we imagine rivers more beautiful than those on earth. And we imagine Ricky with a happy, healed body sitting on a dock with his toes in the water. He loved life in general. And although he left this world in a bit of a hurry, those who knew him will rejoice and celebrate his life, as that is what he would want.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 pm, Monday, May 15, 2016 at Richmond Hill Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held by the river at Toby and Michelle Robert's, 415 Whitehall Lane Richmond Hill, GA 31324.
