Richard S. Bender, Jr., age 70, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023.

Richard was born in Rahway, NJ.  He has lived in Richmond Hill for the past 30 years.

He was a retired U.S. Army Veteran having served for over 21 years and attained the rank of Sergeant First Class.  Richard served in Desert Storm and Desert Shield. He received several commendations during his service.  He worked for 6 years with the Bryan County Board of Education and 10 years with Armstrong University in Savannah.  Richard was an avid golfer.

He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Bender, Sr.; and two brothers, Michael Bender and Bobby Bender.

Richard is survived by his wife of 42 years, Pun Sun Bender; his daughter, Mary Ann Jaudon (Jeffrey); his mother, Betty Bender; and a brother, Mark Bender.

An inurnment service with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 23, 2023 at the Georgia Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, GA.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the Savannah Korean Baptist Church.
