Raymond Steve Tanner Jr., 49, of Richmond Hill, GA, died, November 18, 2020.

He was born in Jacksonville, Florida. Raymond honorably served in multiple branches of the military and in 2004 started contracting, further serving his country in protecting American Diplomats in high threat countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan.  He recently graduated from Savannah Technical College and received an Associate's Degree in Precision Manufacturing specializing in CNC. He was married to his best friend, Andrea Lyn Tanner.

He is survived by his wife and children – Corinne Elizabeth Tanner, Noelle Catherine Tanner, Andrew Knight Johnson, Camila Sofia Tanner, Sebastian Enrique Tanner, Bode Russell Johnson, Elizabeth Joy Johnson, mother – Angela Tanner Owens, and brother – James Walter Owens.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Heather Patricia Owens.

At Raymond's request there will be no memorial service and his remains to be spread in the Caribbean Ocean at a later date. Also, at Raymond's request there will be a celebration of life / party January 16 ^th , 2021; place and time to be determined at a later date.

In Raymond's memory the Blackwater Memorial Alumni Association will be creating a PTSD/TBI campaign in his name to combat PTSD and assist with other families that have had or unfortunately will have to deal with this crisis that is so prevalent within our military and contracting community. Raymond was also survived by his two loving dogs, Lily and Gigi. He loved animals as many others do.  There is a wonderful local veteran owned and operated charity, K9 Battle Buddies, that provides service dogs for PTSD and other disabilities with no costs to the veteran.  It was Andrea's intentions to have Gigi and Raymond start this training, but unfortunately this did not happen.  To learn more about K9 Battle Buddies or make a donation in Raymond's honor, please visit their website - http://www.k9bb.org/home.html .
