Raymond Michael "Mike" Peters, age 69, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Candler Hospital.

He was born in Miami, FL and has lived in Richmond Hill for the past 34 years. Mike was a member of First Baptist Church Richmond Hill.

Mike retired from the U.S. Army in 1996 after devoting 22 years of service to his country.  He served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm.  Mike received numerous awards and medals including the Bronze Service Star.

After retiring from the Army, Mike worked in Security prior to finally retiring to spend his time golfing, hunting, and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Harris Peters; his mother and step-father, Inez and Ray Elder; and numerous siblings.

Mike is survived by his wife of 34 years, Dorethea Peters; his children, David Michael Peters, Patrick Lee Peters (Angela), Nicholas Bruce Peters, and Daniel Jared Peters (Angel);  a sister, Ethel Lois Simmons; 3 brothers, James Gibbs, Ed Elder, and Charles Elder; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 7, 2025 at First Baptist Church Richmond Hill with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial with full military honors will follow in the First Baptist Church Cemetery on Highway 17 South, Richmond Hill, GA.
