Philip Matthew (Matt) Knight, 46, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 in his home in Richmond Hill, GA after a long, hard-fought battle with colon cancer. He was born February 8, 1971 in Pasadena, CA to Philip and Sherilyn Knight but spent most of his life in Montgomery, AL.

Matt is survived by his wife of 22 years, Millicent (Millie) Bragg Knight, and three children. Two daughters, Sydney Katherine (19) , Camryn Alexandria (16) and his namesake and mini me, Philip (Matthew) Knight, II (8).

He is also survived by his parents Phil and Sherry Knight; a sister Amy Knight Hawk; a brother and sister in law Ben and Whitman Knight; 5 nephews: Elijah, Isaac, Sam, Caleb and Joseph; and in-laws Thomas and Judy Guthrie, all of Montgomery, AL.

Matt will always be "one of a kind." Everyone he met knew how special he was. Matt worked as a pharmaceutical representative with Eli Lilly for ten years. His co-workers, doctors, friends, and anyone he encountered said that Matt could change the feel of a room with his presence. Matt always had a story to tell and would never get tired of deep conversations about politics, Jesus, or Alabama Football. He would challenge you on any topic and any game more than anyone you had ever met! He had a special love for the outdoors; he begged his children every weekend to camp with him even if that meant putting the pop-up camper in the backyard. He favored heavy, hard rock music that didn't match his soft and loving personality. Most of all, he loved his family- he had no greater joy than playing with his kids, being a life and work partner to his wife, and spending time with his parents and siblings. Matt Knight was the brightest light you would ever meet and he will be missed by so many. He never lost a friend and you will never meet a person that can claim they don't love him. He knew how to push everyone's emotional buttons, but this was how you knew he really loved you. He was big on giving compliments and never shied away from showing affection or giving advice, whether you asked for it or not. Matt was always there for you, mentoring and spreading his love for Jesus Christ and encouraging all that came in his path. His love for Christ and people only grew as he became ill. There is so much to say about him and his life- much more than words could ever express. Matt left behind a legacy that his family and friends will always be proud of and an energy that will be missed for forever.

A memorial service will be held October 14, 2017 at 10:00am at the Church of the Ascension located at 315 Clanton Ave., Montgomery, AL. A Celebration of Life picnic gathering will continue immediately following the service at Cloverdale Bottom Park on Cloverdale Rd at Ponce De Leon Ave.
