Captain Philip Daniel Auvenshine, 43, lost his battle with colon cancer on August 29, 2023.  Philip was born on December 20, 1979 in Belleville, IL. He graduated from Bob Jones High School in Madison, AL, and continued his education to receive his degree in animation from The Art Institute of Atlanta.  He proudly served in the Army for over 16 years including 2 Iraq campaigns, 25 skydives, and loved making prank phone calls from the Pentagon while serving as the Assistant to the Secretary of the Army.

Philip is survived by his adored wife, Megan Cuba, his son, Derringer Auvenshine, his step-sons Kean and Rhys Cuba, his step-daughters Skyler Auvenshine and Wren Buck, his parents Ron and Maureen, his siblings, Jessica, Tim, Sarah, Karen (and their families), his honorary brother, John Barrett, and his pet snake, Doug Frankenstein.

Philip led his life with grit and determination.  He was a beautiful soul with an unrelenting strength and was apologetically himself.  He brought a unique beauty into everyone's life through his art, food, intellect, and quick wit.  He was a lover of Star Wars, horror films, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but most importantly he loved his family, especially his wife and sons.  Philip was a light in our lives and our world has grown dimmer without him in it.
