Peter E. Nuzzo, age 69, passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 1, 2018.

Peter was born in New Haven, CT. He was a Corporal in the 1 ^st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1 ^st Marine Division, FMF, in the U.S. Marine Corps.  He was decorated with numerous awards including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnamese Service Medal w/1*, the Vietnamese Campaign Medal w/device, the Meritorious Mast, the Combat Action Ribbon, and the RVN Cross of Gallantry w/palm & Gold Frame.

Peter spent 40 years working in Logistics and Distribution for 4 major Corporations. After Peter and Eileen moved to Georgia in 2006, they eventually opened their own Jani-King franchise.  In 2012, they won Franchise of the Year, along with many other awards.

Peter was passionate about flying. He had his Certified Flight Instructor License, IFR, and a Commercial Pilots license.  He owned a Citabria plane.

Peter was an avid golfer with his wife, Eileen. They belonged to several Golf Clubs in CT and GA over the past 30 years.  He had many golf buddies and loved the comradery.

Peter was preceded in death by his father, Nicholas P. Nuzzo; his mother, Mary "Peg" Davoren Nuzzo Valentine; a brother, Dominic Nuzzo; and a niece, Christine Chirico.

He leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Eileen J. Nuzzo; a sister, Annette Chirico of Branford, CT; daughter, Missy Timpson of Cranford, NJ; sons, Christopher Nuzzo (Catherine) of Branford, CT, and Jeff Nuzzo of Madison, CT; a grandson, Wyatt Timpson of Cranford, NJ; and a niece, Jennifer Chirico Fleece of East Haven, CT.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Richmond Hill Funeral Home Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association in honor of Peter.
