On July 3rd 2023, we lost a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Christian named Nancy Darlene Miller. She was a victim of Dementia along with several medical issues. Nancy was born in Miami Fl on 13 September of 1945. She was 77  at the time of her departure. Her mother was the late Hazel Kite of Middleburg, Fl, but she was mostly raised and subsequently adopted by her grandmother, Ora Brinson . Nancy came from a large family with 5 brothers and two sisters, many of whom reside in the Jacksonville Area. Later in life Nancy moved to Lake City Fl where she finished high school.

One of Nancy's jobs after high school was as a telephone switchboard operator. You may remember the time when you actually spoke to a live human operator and she, along with a panel of other operators, would pull a connector and plug it into the appropriate location.

It was during this time that Nancy met her future husband, Rodney Miller, who had moved from Lubbock Texas to be a Vocational Agricultural Teacher in Live oak Florida. Rodney (Rod) had started playing in a small band on the weekend in Lake City , when he first laid eyes on her. Rumor has it when Rod saw Nancy for the first time, he was blown away with her good looks, charm, and catch me if you can attitude. This relationship blossomed until Rod received one of those famous documents from Uncle Sam that says welcome; the United States Army needs you. Wow what a shock; but the Vietnam War was fully underway and the Army was drafting all sorts of men for the war.

At that time, during basic training, Rod and Nancy decided to get married.  He first had to get the permission from his  Drill Sergeant who  allowed him  two days to get married and  have his lengthy honey moon. This marriage set them on the path of travel to numerous bases in the US as well as a three year tour in Germany. Along that path, two beautiful children were born and later grew up to be successful adults who now reside in Richmond Hill. This travel for the US Army gave Rod, Nancy, Tadd, and Jodi the opportunity to see numerous interesting and exciting places in the world. She also was able to enjoy precious time with her two grand children ; Madison and Brody Miller. Nancy had a good life and she was subsequently baptized into the Lords Church at the Richmond Hill Church of Christ . She will be sorely missed by all, but she will get to meet her maker and will no longer be burdened with the pain  and sorrow of this life.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, July 7, 2023 at Richmond Hill Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Richmond Hill Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Burnt Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.
