Michael John Varga Sr., 78, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022.

Michael was born in Carteret, NJ.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and was a firefighter for the Carteret Fire Department, and retired after 27 years of service.

Michael was a Lawrence Harbour Little League Coach, and a coach for the Raritan Bay Cougars. He was an active member of the Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister, choir member, and a CCD teacher.

Michael moved to The Villages, Florida and became active in a number of local groups.  He was the President of Retired Police and Fire for 8 years in Leesville, Florida, participated at the Soup Kitchen for 15 years, was a member of the Old Car Club, and numerous softball teams.

He moved to Richmond Hill 3 years ago to be closer to his family.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Varga who passed away in 2014.

He is survived by his sons; Robert Varga, Michael "Mickey" Varga, Glen Varga, and Mark Varga, grandchildren, Alyssa, Matthew, Ashley, Meghan, Sarah, Liam, Kaelyn, and Andrew.

A visitation will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 5:00pm-6:00pm with a Memorial service to follow at 6:00pm at Richmond Hill Funeral Home. Military honors will be rendered at 5:00pm by the U.S. Navy.
