Michael Thacker of Townsend, GA (November 22, 1958 - June 3, 2023)

Michael Thacker, a loving husband, devoted father, and respected member of his community, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 3, 2023. He was 64 years old.

Born in Savannah, GA, Michael grew up surrounded by the love of his parents, Larry and Margie Woods. He shared a special bond with his late brother, Walter James Thacker Jr., and their memories together will forever hold a place in the hearts of those who knew them.

Michael was a Master Plumber by profession and proudly held membership in the esteemed Pipefitters Union Local 188. His expertise and dedication to his craft were widely recognized and respected within his industry.

However, Michael's true legacy extends far beyond his professional accomplishments. He was a man of profound kindness, warmth, and an unparalleled love for his family, friends, and community. With a contagious sense of humor, he effortlessly turned strangers into friends and brightened the lives of those around him with his infectious laughter.

An avid outdoorsman, Michael possessed an unyielding passion for the water. Whether it was fishing, boating, or simply basking in the serenity of nature's beauty, he found solace and joy in the great outdoors. Those close to him will forever cherish the memories of his "Thackerisms," his unique expressions and humorous sayings, which have become a shared language among those who loved him.

Michael leaves behind a profound void in the lives of his loved ones, but his memory will forever be etched in their hearts. He is survived by his beloved wife, Brandi, with whom he shared a deep and unwavering love. Together, they created a beautiful blended family, embracing each other's children as their own. His children, Casey Willard (Matthew), Jared Brown, Erica Thacker (Carlos), Alex Thacker (Cassidy), and Cassidy White (Tanner), were his pride and joy, and their love for him will endure forever.

Michael's siblings, Lisa Cato (Willie), Wendy Shuman (Perry), Keith Thacker (Bertha) and Kim Davis (Tommy), shared a bond that went beyond blood. They stood by each other's side through life's joys and challenges, and their connection will continue to provide comfort and strength during this difficult time.

In addition to his immediate family, Michael leaves behind eight wonderful grandchildren who brought immeasurable happiness to his life. Their laughter and love filled his heart with joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

A funeral service to honor Michael's life will be held at Richmond Hill Funeral Home on Friday, June 9th at 12:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 11:00 to12:00, and burial at the Mount Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery will follow the conclusion of the funeral
