Michael (Mike) Calvin Sasser, age 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 12, 2021 at his home in Richmond Hill, GA, surrounded by his loving family.

Mike was born in Atlanta, GA on January 21, 1942. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 35 years, Joanie Sasser; two sons, Matthew P Sasser (Merideth) of Sandy Springs, GA, and Jonathan A Sasser (Rachel) of Evans, GA; a step-son, Jason Reheis (Terri) of Jamestown, TN; his brother, Harry W Sasser (Linda) of Dawsonville, GA and 2 sisters, Mary Louise Colston of Cumming, GA and Shirley Ulmer of Savannah, GA; six grandchildren, Adam, Aubrey and Sydney Sasser, all of Evans, GA, Savannah-Kate and Grant Sasser, both of Sandy Springs, GA and Sara Reheis of Atlanta, GA; a niece, Sandy C Henderson (Jack) of Canton, GA.

Mike spent his childhood and adolescent years in several different cities but after he graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1964 with degrees in both Mechanical Engineering and Business, Mike made Atlanta, GA, specifically Tucker, his home for the next 36 years. Early in his career Mike worked for Cousins Properties developing shopping centers. In the late 70's Mike continued his career as a commercial developer by starting his own business. He worked with numerous equity partners over the years but he spent the latter part of his career partnering with Fletcher-Bright Company and his oldest son, Matt.

Throughout Mike's life he was an avid bicyclist and exercise enthusiast, talented woodworker and gifted landscaper. Mike was a lover of the outdoors and truly enjoyed all things having to do with nature. In 2000, he and his wife Joanie relocated to Richmond Hill, GA where he would spend the rest of his years creating a beautiful home surrounded by a perfectly landscaped setting on the banks of the Ogeechee River. This was certainly his life's best work. Mike was able to enjoy the breathtaking view of this property from his sunroom until his last breath. His last wishes were for his passing to be peaceful, painless and quick and his wishes were met with the help of amazing support from family members and Homestead Hospice Care.

Mike was preceded in death by both of his parents, a step-son, Michael Reheis, and a granddaughter, Gretchen Reheis.
