Mary Louise Gillis, age 79, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Bryan County Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mary Lou was born in Savannah.  She lived in Soperton for a number of years before moving to Richmond Hill 22 years ago.

She did medical coding for Swainsboro Nursing Home.  Mary Lou liked to cook and she enjoyed fishing and taking care of her plants.

She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Dean Handley, Jr.

Mary Lou is survived by her sisters, Jean Hartley (Dan) of Brooklet, Judy Crosby of Richmond Hill, Karen Urban of Ladson, SC, and Marianne Smith (Tim) of Richmond Hill; her grandchildren, Jason Handley of Baxley and Dixie Handley of Richmond Hill; nieces and a nephew; and her loving dogs, Pretty Girl and Vera.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Richmond Hill Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Savannah.
