Mary "Catherine" Yeates Gaster was born in Beebe, Arkansas the oldest of two daughters of Arlie and Lucy Yeates.

She grew up in Arkansas and left in 1952 with her first husband coming to Ft. Stewart as a military wife and having two Sons, Wesley and Wayne.  The family spent time in Germany and Ft Stewart.

Her first line of work was at Ft. Stewart hospital where she became a nurse.  Later she transferred to working at the dental facility where she became a Dental Therapist Assistant at the Dental offices at both Ft. Stewart and Hunter, which is equivalent to a Nurse Practitioner today.  She divorced and raised her two sons.

She met Ray Gaster in 1983 and they married in May of 1988.  Since then, they have traveled the world going to Europe six or more times. They have been to the far east, Australia, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Turkey, Russia, etc.  Catherine would travel with Ray to cities all over the US, especially liking Las Vegas.

She retired around 1998 and spent a lot of time with her needles and yarn crocheting all types of items that she donated to great cause.  She made booties and small hats that went to Memorial and St. Joe's hospitals for premature born babies. She made larger items for the cancer wards that covered bare heads. She crocheted over 900 skull caps for front line soldiers in Afghanistan as part of the Operation Helmet Liner Campaign.

She was active in Richmond Hill's Red Hat Society and was a member of the Common Threads sewing group.  Catherine received recognition for her volunteer work in the Outpatient Clinic at St. Joes hospital.

She was a proud Grandmother of three children and had five great grandchildren.  She loved dogs and left behind Bonnie, a border collie and Jenny, a chachalaca.  Her life was filled with a lot of responsibility, wisdom, kindness, and love for all those that knew her.
