Mary Helen Smith Arnsdorff, age 97,  passed away at her home in Richmond Hill, Georgia on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, under the care of Hospice Savannah.

Mrs. Arnsdorff was the daughter of the late Louis N. Smith and Emma McManus Smith. She was primarily a lifetime resident of Richmond Hill.  She was an honored graduate of Richmond Hill High School in 1945  and also graduated from Warren A. Candler School of Nursing in 1948, which was a part of the Army Nursing Corp. A Registered Nurse with a successful career of nursing, Mary Helen retired from Candler Hospital after 30 years of service. She was an active member of the Richmond Hill Methodist Church and The Glorious Saints until her health declined. She was also active with the Candler Alumni Association.

As a nurse, she instinctively enjoyed caring for family and friends. This Southern Lady, grew up in Richmond Hill during the Henry Ford Era when Home Economics included staying at the Community House for a week, planning and preparing meals for Henry Ford, his orchestra and guests. Mary Helen developed the love for cooking, baking and proper etiquette early in life. She also enjoyed gardening and sewing. She was a bright, shining Lady who was an elegant, smart, graceful woman of God.

She is preceded In death by her husband, Ray A. Arnsdorff and son, Alan N. Arnsdorff.

She is survived by her sons Hinton R. Arnsdorff (Traci), Louis A. Arnsdorff (Debra), and daughter Helen Kay (Robert) all of Richmond Hill. Grandchildren  April Poppell (Jake), Bradley Arnsdorff,  Andrea Fawcett (William), Allison Durden (Adam), Brennan Arnsdorff (Amanda), and Heather Thompson. Great Grandchildren Christopher Poole, Austin Poole, Emilie Arnsdorff Smith, (Randall), Sara Kelly, Catherine Kelly, Ava Bird, Ansley Durden, Farrah Arnsdorff and Brantley Arnsdorff.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Richmond Hill Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the Bryan Neck Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
