Martin Emmett Davis, Jr., age 92, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at the home of his daughter in Midway, GA.

Martin was born in Waycross, GA. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in World War II.  He retired after many years of service with the Chatham County Board of Education.

Martin loved Gospel music. He was a member of the Christian Men's Quartet and the Carriers.  He was a former Deacon and member of Fleming Baptist Church.  His family says he was the most positive man that they have ever known.  He was always smiling and was a jokester.  He had a love for his family like no other.  He loved reading his Bible.

Martin was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Audrey Davis, and a grandson, Michael James Davis of Faulkville.

He is survived by four children, Marvin Edward "Eddie" Davis (Chris), Rita Christine Banks (Alfred), James Michael "Mike" Davis (Lynn), and Tammy Lynn Carter (David-deceased); his siblings, Lorine Stiehl, Corine Hall, Kathy Burdg, Grady Richardson; twelve grandchildren; twenty five great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Daniel Baptist Church in Richmond Hill with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the Ash Branch Cemetery in Pembroke with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy.
