Richmond Hill-Marie Thigpen, 101 years old, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Bryan County Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Marie was born in Leoma, TN.  She lived most of her life in Thunderbolt, GA.

During WWII, Mrs. Thigpen worked at Hunter Army Air Field supporting our troops. Marie retired as a sales associate at Belks. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer on Wilmington Island.  Marie was an avid painter and artist who also enjoyed cooking and gardening.  She was known for her great sense of humor and interesting story telling.

She is predeceased by her husband, Bennie Thigpen.

Marie is survived by her daughters, Carol Hettinger (Vann) of Colorado and Brenda Lennane of Richmond Hill; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Richmond Hill Funeral Home.

A Graveside Service will be held Friday, August 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens , Savannah, GA.
