LARRY PATTERSON

BENEDICTINE CLASS OF 1961

Larry Patterson ranked as one of the very top all-around athletes to ever come out of Savannah, GA. At Benedictine Military School he received the Ashley Dearing Award for his outstanding football, basketball and baseball endeavors. He narrowly edged out his teammate Hank Lehwald for this award. His senior year he pitched ol' BC to its only State Championship in 1961.  BC was in the highest state classification at that time. One of Larry's most memorable moments was his opening game no-hitter in the state tournament against Murphy High school in Thomaston, GA.  The tall BC wonder finished his senior season with a microscopic 0.12 ERA. Larry then signed to play professional baseball right out of Benedictine with the Cleveland Indians.

He was a humble, quiet and unassuming gentleman who spoke with his actions more than his words. He will be missed by his Benedictine classmates and many friends.
