Lawrence Robert Kenyon, retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on April 29, 2025, at his home in Richmond Hill, Georgia, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

He attended Jenkins County High School and went on to graduate from North Georgia College with a bachelor's degree and a commission in the United States Army.

Lawrence proudly served as both a fixed-wing and helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War, completing multiple combat tours. He was awarded the Air Medal for his valor and exceptional performance during missions in hostile territory. His final active-duty assignment was serving as Professor of Military Science at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Georgia.

After retiring from the Army, Lawrence continued his life of service by working for over two decades in senior leadership positions at the Youth Development Center in Milledgeville, Georgia, where he helped positively shape the lives of countless young people.

He was a devoted husband, loving father, loyal friend, and a man of quiet strength and courage.

An active member of the Rotary Club for more than 40 years, Lawrence lived by the motto "Service Above Self" and was deeply committed to making a positive impact in his community.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Fields Kenyon of Dahlonega, Georgia; his daughter Ann Eaker and her husband Ray Eaker of Richmond Hill, Georgia; his son Lawrence Robert Kenyon II of Tennessee; and his daughter Kathy Lyn Keller and her husband Craig Keller of Hawaii. He is also survived by his grandsons, which include Logan Eaker, and his great-grandson, Jaxen Burdette. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Michael Tyler Burdette.

Lawrence was deeply loved, and his strength, loyalty, and enduring sense of service will be missed by all who knew him.

A graveside service to honor his life will be held at Bonaventure Cemetery (Greenwich) on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 11:45 a.m.
