Laurie Marie Ladson, of Richmond Hill, died at home on Saturday, December 22, 2018.

Laurie was born in Savannah on October 12, 1982. She attended the Richmond Hill schools until the 9 ^th grade and graduated with honors from Darlington School in 2000. Laurie won Most Valuable Player awards in cross country and tennis in her freshman year at Richmond Hill and her sophomore year at Savannah Country Day School.

She finished college at Emory University with a major in English in 2004. She went on to get a masters degree in middle school education from the University of Georgia in 2010.

After a several jobs in Atlanta and Charleston, Laurie worked with family businesses in Richmond Hill, including Ladson Law Firm, PC and MBL Ventures, LLP, until her death.

Laurie was a gifted poet and avid athlete as well as a devoted daughter, sister and friend. She loved the Georgia Coast and the outdoors. She was compassionate and very concerned with children. She was working toward finishing her teaching certificate.

Laurie was a member of St John's Episcopal Church on Bull Street in Savannah until she moved to Richmond Hill. She was a member of the Byran Neck Presbyterian Church until the Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church was formed, of which she was a founding member.

Laurie is survived by her father, Brice Ladson of Richmond Hill, her mother Anna Ladson of Columbus, and stepmother, Tina Ladson of Richmond Hill; and her brother, Mitchell Ladson and his wife Jennifer Ladson of Columbus, as well as their children, Samuel Calhoun and Eleanor Grace Ladson.

There will be a visitation at the Richmond Hill Funeral Home at 8901 Ford Avenue from 6-8 PM on Thursday, December 27, 2018.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church on Highway 144.  A private family interment will be held at Burnt Church Cemetery.
