It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Karl-Walter Schmidt on Friday morning, October 14 th , 2022. Karl was 77 years old.

By his side was his Life Partner Diane Tune and devoted friend Michael Martinez. He left this world peacefully and on his terms.
Karl was born in Ennepetal, Germany June 24 th , 1945 to Walter Schmidt and Ilse Habig.

He is preceded in death by his parents and Sister Val Smith. He is survived by his Sister Roswitha
Michel and many cousins in Germany and Cousin Sybille Murphy of Aztec, NM.

Karl arrived from Germany to Sandusky, Ohio over Memorial weekend of 1968. He always said, "I came to America on vacation! I'm still on vacation!". He moved to Colorado in 1975 and started his own successful business, retiring in 2017. All the organizations he started and supported are vast throughout the years. When he moved to Evergreen, CO in the late eighties he was very active in the Evergreen Highlands Association (EHA) writes: Many of you who are new to the community may not have known Karl, but you have benefited from him. He donated the bronze statues at the two entrances, the Totem pole/Nature Tree to the EHA. He donated his time and money to the annual Pig Roast (an EHA legend that ran for at least 20 years), and he hosted Drinks (I mean, Appetizers) each year for the Progressive Dinner just as long.
Karl remained active via Zoom with Schlaraffia® Denvera 198, a 163 year old international fraternal organization.

Karl enjoyed traveling with his family and friends via cruises on smaller, more intimate ships. He always looked forward to his next adventure. When he decided to move to Savannah, GA we saw the move as another adventure. We enjoyed many sites and restaurants in and around the Savannah area and made many new friends.

All the lives he touched, even briefly, feel the loss of his presence, generosity and devotion.
