Joseph Ryan Kinney (Joe), age 33, passed away Friday, August 7, 2020. He was on vacation with his mother in Palm Beach, FL.

Joe was a longtime resident of Richmond Hill. He attended school there and later moved to Pooler, GA.  He was an outdoorsman.  At 19, he had the opportunity to hike the Appalachian Trail where his love for the outdoors grew.  Joe loved hiking, camping, fishing, boating, and crabbing.

He is survived by his mother, Janice Avant; Edwin Smith, who he considered family and looked up to as a mentor; his father, Randy Kinney (Angie) of Covington, GA; his siblings, Brandon Avant of Pooler, Justin and Myranda Kinney of Covington, and Brian Avant of Alabama; his grandmother, Nell Kinney of Rutledge, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Richmond Hill Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in Daniel Baptist Cemetery in Richmond Hill.

Social distancing and CDC guidelines shall be observed.

Joe loved his friends and family wholeheartedly. If he considered you a friend, he was loyal and there in any need.

Our hearts are broken. May he finally find peace and rest easy.  We will remember his kind heart and smile that would melt your heart.
