Joseph D. Bessent, Sr., age 75, passed away Friday, March 20, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness.

Joseph was born in Bay Shore, NY. He grew up in Thunderbolt and lived in Savannah for many years.  In 1995 he made his home in Richmond Hill.  He was the owner and operator of Georgia Surveyors Exchange for many years.  Joe was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the Good Ol Boys golf group.

Joe was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to cook, fish, and play golf, but more importantly he loved his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Bessent of Richmond Hill; his children, Cindy Driggers (Cecil) of Richmond Hill, Pam Spitdowski (David) of Savannah, Lori Brown of Orlando, Randall Brown (Jodie) of Richmond Hill, Kenneth Bessent of Garden City, and Joseph Daniel Bessent, Jr. (Angela) of Savannah; a sister, Judith Wilmarth (Larry) of Alaska; his grandchildren, David Spitdowski, Caitlin Stribling, Megan Brown, Maci McLeroy, Hannah McLeroy, Dillon Brown, Aiden Bessent, Kaitlin Bessent, and Connor Bessent.

The family will have a private service.
