John Joseph Rispoli, a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force, passed away on December 24, 2021 at the age of 91. He was born on June 20, 1930 to Camilla and Charles Respol. John was the oldest child; brother to Tony and Lorraine. He grew up on Long Island, NY where his parents owned a produce shop. He was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High school in Queens, NY 1949 and received his BS from Hofstra University in 1952 and his Masters from the University of William and Mary in 1969. He enlisted in the United States Air Force with a direct commission to Second Lieutenant in 1953. During his tour at Shaw AFB in Sumpter, SC he met fellow Air Force service member and nurse Loretta Leone. They were married in 1957. His military service brought their family from Spangdahlem AFB, Germany and Chelveston RAF, England to NORAD in Colorado and Langley AFB in Virginia. John served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969 with the 42nd Tactical Recon Squadron. He retired from the military in 1973 and taught Air Force ROTC in Danbury, CT until 1996. John was a devout Catholic. For the last 24 years he was an active member of St. Elizabeth Anne Seton Catholic Church in Palm Coast, FL and most recently at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Richmond Hill, GA.

John is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Camilla Respol (nee Rossi); brother Anthony Rispoli; and grandson Joshua Rispoli.

John is survived by his wife of 64 years, Loretta Rispoli (nee Leone); son Charles Rispoli and his wife Cindy; daughter Carrie Rohde and her husband Dan; son Christopher Rispoli; son Damian Rispoli and his wife Vicki; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and sister Lorraine Evans and her husband George. He leaves behind many other beloved members of his big Italian family.

A Rosary Service will be begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Richmond Hill Funeral Home with a visitation following until 8:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., December 29, 2021 at the Martha-Mary Chapel of St. Anne Catholic Church in Richmond Hill.

Burial will be in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
