Joanie W. Steptoe, age 61, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta.

Joanie was born and raised in Savannah and had been a resident of Richmond Hill for the past 31 years. She retired as a Child Support Specialist with the Chatham County District Attorney's Office.

Joanie loved to travel and enjoyed cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs. She especially loved everything about being on the water and cherished the time spent enjoying life with her family. Above all, Joanie was a loving wife and devoted mother who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Mary Ward; and her sister, Sherri Buttimer.

Joanie is survived by her loving husband of 37½ years, Richard "Ric" Steptoe; and her son, Tyler Steptoe.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Bethel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Joanie's memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends who were blessed to know and love her.
