Jerry Lynn Shurling passed away on Monday, April 27th, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Claxton, GA but has lived in Richmond Hill for the past 33 years.  She worked as a bookkeeper for CCI in Savannah until her health declined.

Jerry was a very proud grandma and homemaker.  She loved laying out in the sun whether it was at the beach or by the pool.  She was a good seamstress and loved to do upholstery.

Our mother, Jerry Lynn Shurling, was a mother like no other. She showed up every single day of her life for me and my sister. She cared about us more than she even thought to care about herself. Every holiday, school event, and birthday was made to be the most special time of our lives. It was always magical, but now that I'm older and can look back on it, it wasn't the holiday or birthday that was magical. It was our mother. She was the magic in every room and behind every scene. She never EVER failed to let me and my sister know she was standing in our corner. She supported us to the fullest, even when it probably seemed nearly impossible for her to do so. She was our safe space. We could go to her for absolutely anything we needed, and we knew beyond a shadow of a doubt—momma would have our back.

Our mother was a woman who could do anything. She could make a curtain, any craft, throw an amazing party, and make her grandbaby Kenny belly laugh before anyone else could. Our mother was dealt an unfair deck of cards for life. She deserved SO much more than she ever received. She deserved to feel the magic in the room and to feel just as loved as she always made us feel.

Jerry is survived by her husband, Steven Shurling; her daughters, Katie Neal (Jon) and Shea Howe (Russell); her brother, Kenny Peoples; her sisters, Judy Fanning and Patty Jenkins; and her grandchildren, Kennedy Neal and Stetson Howe.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Geraldine and J.D. Peoples; two brothers, Billy Peoples and Ricky Peoples; and her beloved dog, Benji.

Jerry will be remembered for her strength, her creativity, and the deep, unwavering love she gave so freely. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
