Jeanne Marie Zeek, age 70, of Richmond Hill, Georgia, a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother, passed away on January 10, 2026. She will be remembered for her welcoming spirit, steady presence, and deep love for her family.

Jeanne had a gift for making people feel at home. She was present, attentive, and genuinely caring, whether in joyful moments or quiet ones. Her family was the center of her life, and she poured her heart into being a supportive wife, a nurturing mother, and a doting grandma.

A woman of faith, Jeanne trusted God through every season of life and faced challenges with grace and quiet strength. Her kindness and ability to make room for others left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Jeanne was a proud graduate of Archbishop Alter High School in Kettering, Ohio. She earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in English from the University of Dayton. Jeanne devoted many years of service to the University of Dayton, retiring as Senior Administrative Assistant for Accreditation and Marketing in the School of Business Administration.

Jeanne greatly enjoyed writing and editing, traveling, and serving at church. She especially cherished time spent playing card games with friends and family. She built strong, lasting relationships with the women of Huber Heights Church of God in Huber Heights, Ohio, and later with Compassion Christian Church in Savannah, Georgia. Both communities meant so much to her and reflected her deep commitment to fellowship and faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Therese Smaxwell, and her brother, Pat Smaxwell. She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Zeek; her children, Nick Sullivan (Jenn), Alex Sullivan (Megan), and Kyle Zeek (Jamee); her grandchildren, Carter, Ian, Parker, Beau, Kylee, Gracie, Victoria, and Liam; and her siblings, Mike Smaxwell, Tom Smaxwell, and Mary Dickey.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 17th at Compassion Christian Church – Henderson Campus Worship Center. Visitation will begin at 4pm, with service at 5 p.m.  An additional Celebration of Life will be held in Ohio at a later date.
