Janice Lopez-Surma, 79, passed away on December 16, 2025. Born in New York, and moved to Puerto Rico where she lived for 10 years. Janice was a long time resident of Trenton, New Jersey and has lived in Fleming for the past 24 years. She wanted to eventually retire in Puerto Rico.

Janice was a devoted member of St. Anne Catholic Church. She retired from Portman's Music in Savannah after more than 20 years of dedicated service. Earlier in her life, she worked at various banks in Trenton and was also employed by the State Department of New Jersey for several years.

One of Janice's greatest passions was researching her family genealogy, a pursuit she cherished and devoted much of her time to, preserving her family's history for future generations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Rodriguez; her son, Robert Brockell; her brothers, Fred and Paul Lopez; and her parents, Fred and Elizabeth Lopez.

She is survived by her daughter, Gini Nicholls (Rich Briggs); her sister, Jeanette Boyle; her sister-in-law, Mary Lopez; her grandchildren, Brianna, Alexa, Kagen, Dawson, Jimi, Maci, Julie, Katie, Brianna, and Austin; several great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Janice will be remembered for her dedication to family, her love of history, and the quiet strength she carried throughout her life.

Father Gregory Visca will preform the graveside service on Friday, January 2nd, 2026 at 1 p.m. at the Catholic Cemetery, 1720 Wheaton St Savannah, GA 31404.
