James "Jimmy" Hurd, born July 12, 1942, passed away on July 6, 2026. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran, retired truck driver, and talented musician.

Jimmy found great joy in playing the guitar and sharing his love for bluegrass, gospel and country music, notably singing as a member of the "Lonesome Mountain Boys." He also loved boxing in his early years.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his daughter Lisa Hurd.

He is survived by his wife, Freida Hurd; his sons, Floyd Hurd and Stanley Hurd (Melissa);and his stepson, Bobby Hemmings, his daughters, Vickey Williams (Clayton) and Laina Smalley; his brother, Billy Hurd; his sister, Hazel Kykeir; his grandchildren Carter Hurd, Rylan Hurd, Brooke Myers, and Victoria Brill (Frankie), his great-grandchildren Laiklynn, Frankie, Addison, Ryder Brill, and additional extended family members.

A Graveside service will be held at Richmond Hill First Baptist Cemetery on Thursday, July 9th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
