Jacquelyn Deborah Simmons Mitchum passed away at Hospice Savannah on May 10, 2018. She was predeceased by her parents, Thad and Maggie Simmons; her sister, Sybil and her brother, Carl.

She was born July 18, 1931 in Stilson, Ga. She formally resided in Savannah and Chatham County before moving to Richmond Hill. She was a 1948 graduate of Richmond Hill High School during the Henry Ford era, where she met and subsequently married her loving husband of 67 plus years, Dale C. Mitchum.

She was a retired former U.S. Government employee having served in various contract administrative positions in several locations, including the Contract Review Board for the U.S. Department of Justice, Washington D.C.

She was an active member of the Richmond Hill United Methodist Church, having served in the past as financial secretary. She also attended the Cashiers, NC, United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Richmond Hill Lions Club and Historical Society.

She is survived by her loving husband, many nieces and nephews, friends and cousins by the dozens.

Services for Mrs. Mitchum will be held at the Richmond Hill United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 14. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the United Methodist Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family has requested no flowers. Contributions may be made to the Richmond Hill United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Active Pallbearers will be Tommy Casey, Scott Yackel, Marvin Tillman, Joe Hoke, Ronny Gerrald, Dick Yaun.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Richmond Hill Lions Club, the Joyous Saints and the Seniors Sunday School Class.
