IRENE LILOIA, December 5, 1946—September 17, 2021

Irene Liloia passed away on September 17, 2021 in Richmond Hill, GA. at the age of 74. Born to Anna & Frederir they moved to the United States, settling in NYC's East Village in 1953. In her young adult life, she gained a stepfather in Stephen Gitter, and the family relocated to Nutley New Jersey where they settled until early 70's, when she eventually moved to Brick New Jersey.

In 1971, Irene met and eventually married the love of her life, Emil Liloia. Together, as they started their family, they moved to Brick, settling in a community they loved and dedicated a great amount of their time to. Whether it was Cub Scouts Den Mother, Little League Team mom and or Brick American Little League Board member, or any help the Junior Sports League needed, it was clear her dedication to all that was family, and the betterment of her beloved Community of Brick was a priority in her life.

She started her career working at Chase Manhattan, eventually owned Jerry's Deli in Brick, and in 1980 began working at ShopRite's deli department—where she made many a friend of fellow employees and customers.  Her outgoing personality and infectious smile was always awaiting anyone approaching, even as she joked about the public being quite unfriendly at the deli counter. In 1994, Emil's career saw them moving to Richmond Hill, GA. It was also the place where she jokingly said at the dinner table, "no way am I moving down there" when the subject was originally mentioned. Despite her initial reaction, they moved down, and she made many friends afterwards, while gaining some of the best neighbors anyone could ask for. After relocating to Richmond Hill, she worked for Georgia Port Authority, where she loved to complain about anything involving her work, but would never change it or give it up. She eventually retired in 2014 when her husband became ill, but constantly returned with home cooked goodies for her "work family" at the ports, all of whom she missed dearly.

She enjoyed reading books, enjoyed her cigarette breaks, and enjoyed her coffee; all of which she could be seen doing sitting in her backyard or in the garage. She loved cooking from scratch, blaming computer viruses and the dozens of pop up viruses on anything other than her coupon sites where she would click on anything that sounded like a good deal. It was never her clicking things, it was always the computers' fault. Her joy for joking around and making all around her laugh was obvious after sitting with her for even the shortest length of time. She was the best mother, and one of the best friends one could hope and wish for. Sincere. Honest. Loving.

Her love for her family and friends was stronger than most, and unconditional. Overly proud of her boys Michael and Pat, their accomplishments were a constant source of bragging rights. She was reenergized in life with the birth of her grandchildren, Anthony and Hannah, whom she could constantly be heard speaking of. While geographically separated, nothing would stop the phone calls or the facetimes with any family member or friend. Always chatting it up, she cherished her NJ/NY friends, and loved her Richmond Hill and port/long shoreman friends as well. She will surely be missed by anyone who was Blessed enough to have crossed paths with her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Frederir; mother, Anna; stepfather Stephen, sister, Luba; her loving husband Emil. She was survived by her son Michael and his partner Holly, Son Pat and his wife Jennifer; Sister-in-law Patricia and her husband Telmo; Nephews and their families Roman, Frank, and Jude; niece Amanda, her grandchildren Anthony and Hannah; and dozens of caring friends and neighbors.

A private cremation was held.

A visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm, Friday, October 15, 2021 at Richmond Hill Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at 7pm with Fr. Allan J. McDonald officiating.
