Eileen Marie McCarthy (Curtin) died peacefully at The Station Exchange Senior Care on Sunday, June 11, 2023, in Richmond Hill, Georgia at the age of 82.

Eileen was born to Patrick Curtin and Loretta Curtin (Casey) on August 13, 1940, in Rockaway Beach, New York. She graduated from Sacred Heart of Mary High School in 1958 and studied at Fordham University in New York.

Eileen is survived by her husband of 58 years Thomas J. McCarthy, together with her four children, Tom McCarthy Jr of Beaverton, OR, Marianne (Colin) McCarthy Schofield of Richmond Hill, GA, Gabrielle (Sean) McCarthy Harrington of San Marcos, TX and Caitlyn McCarthy of Fairfield, CT. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren, Kelsey, Emily, Matthew, Evan, Justin and Sophia, and great-granddaughter, Hallie, as well as by her 3 siblings, Francis (Joanne) Curtin, Marilyn (Bill) Rienecker and Casey Maloney.

Eileen married her sweetheart Tom on August 1, 1964. During their marriage they lived in Philadelphia PA, Bronx NY, Whitestone NY, Madison CT for more than 40 years, and Venice FL. She moved to Richmond Hill in 2019.

She will be remembered as a loving mother and wife, a loyal friend who would do anything to help those in need, and an active and devout member of the Catholic Church. She was a wonderful cook and hosted the best Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners and so many memorable parties. She was quick-witted and a fantastic dancer - people would clear the floor to watch her dance.

She was a homemaker, a competitive tennis player and an avid walker. She loved her weekly tennis with her lifelong friends. She volunteered at local soup kitchens, helped underprivileged children in New Haven and enjoyed working at the ABC Thrift Store in Madison, CT. Eileen was passionate about all animals, especially her own. She will be met in Heaven by her 7 dogs and many cats.

The funeral is scheduled for Monday June 19, 2023, 11:00am at St. Frances Cabrini at 11500 Middleground Rd, Savannah, GA 31419. Grave site service immediately followed at Burnt Church Cemetery in Richmond Hill Ga. with a reception following at the home of her daughter in Richmond Hill.
