Col. Domingo P. Gonzalez, USA, Ret., M.D., age 74, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Dr. Gonzalez was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  He moved to New York at an early age.  He graduated from SUNY Potsdam in New York.

He obtained his medical degree from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and did his medical residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in internal medicine.

Dr. Gonzalez was a retired US Army Veteran having served tours of duty in Bosnia, Kosovo, and Iraq where he was a flight surgeon.  He was a Bronze Star recipient.  He worked briefly after the service at the Hinesville VA Outpatient Clinic.

Dr. Gonzalez was preceded in death by his parents, Pascasio Gonzalez Rivera and Rosalia Ortiz Guzman.

He is survived by his wife, Col. Ana Parodi, USA, Ret., M.D. of Richmond Hill; his children, Elysia Gonzalez of New York, Marcos Gonzalez of Richmond Hill; Ariel Gonzalez of Fort Drum, NY, and Alina Gonzalez of New Orleans, LA; his siblings, Miguel A. Gonzalez (Adilia), Elvira Gonzalez, Rosa Lopez, Andres Gonzalez (Maria), and Miriam Melendez; numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Monday, July 18, 2022 at Richmond Hill Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m to 7:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m..

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at St. Anne Catholic Church with burial to follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville with military honors.
