David Wayne Martin, born January 23, 1957, in Fort Meade, Maryland, passed away peacefully at the age of 68 in his home. A devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, David's life was full of adventure, generosity, and love.

As a baby, David and his family relocated to Patrick, Florida, before eventually settling in Anchorage, Alaska. It was in Alaska where he developed a deep bond with his father through fishing for rainbow trout, salmon, and humpies, and hunting moose, caribou, bear, and ptarmigan. He also discovered a passion for mechanics–learning to tinker on vehicles, a skill that would shape both his career and his hobbies.

Following in his father's footsteps, David became a skilled mechanic. But his love for machinery didn't stop at work. He was a Hot Rod enthusiast and had a creative spirit and a love for speed–building and racing cars, and enjoyed competitively racing at dirt tracks on Friday nights. He spent many years giving new life to old Volkswagens and refurbishing combustion engines, designing dune buggies from old parts, and modifying motorcycles into one-of-a-kind bikes. Around Richmond Hill, where he has lived since 1994, he was widely recognized for his motorcycle proudly bearing the American Flag and his steadfast dedication to fundraising efforts that supported children, veterans, and those in need.

David is survived by his beloved son, Curtis Wayne Martin; cherished granddaughters, Pixie Jayne Martin and Alethea "Lele" Shayne Martin; brothers, Edward Martin and Michael Martin; and sisters, Tina Hasty, Gina Ferriera, Starlet Griffis, Teresa Narcarti and her husband, and Darlene Morgan. He also leaves behind many nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and a host of loving friends and caregivers who were touched by his kind heart and giving spirit.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Mary Martin and John and Margaruette Rainey, and his parents, Curtis and Annie Martin.

A celebration of David's life will be held at 10:00am on Saturday June 28th, at New Beginnings Church in Richmond Hill, GA.
