Mr. Charlie Barnard departed life at Hospice of Savannah on Thursday, December 28, 2023. He was loved by
all who knew him. He was born on February 2, 1936, in Richmond Hill, Georgia, to the late Fred and Gracie
Barnard.
Charlie attended George Washington Carver School. He was employed with International Paper Company in
Richmond Hill, GA.
Uncle Charlie, as we all knew him, was kind and decent. In his earlier years, he was quite a farmer and a
builder. As he got older, he mostly stayed to himself in his home; however, you were always greeted with a big
smile when visiting him. He loved watching soap operas and Western shows on television.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Sarah Brown, Eva Mae Green, and Florence Watson; four brothers,
Lee Barnard, Freddie Barnard, Hamilton Barnard, and Steve Barnard.
He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Charlesetta Barnard-Huntsman of Los Angeles, California, and
Valerie (Sharrod) Jackson of Macon, Georgia; two sisters, Gracie (Harry) Greene of Richmond Hill, Georgia,
and Patsy Johnson of Savannah, Georgia; four grandchildren, Brandon Huntsman, Trinika Huntsman, Latoya
Jackson, and Vieshia Jackson; five great-grandchildren; four special nieces who were there for him during his
time of need, Dorothy Johnson, Stella Workman, Judith Barnard-Royal, and Melanie Johnson-Bongalon; and a
host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
