Carolyn Rowland Stone, age 86, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah.

Carolyn was born in Waycross, GA.  She was Valedictorian of of her graduating class at Wacona High School in Ware County, GA.  She studied art at the University of Georgia (Off-Campus) and received a Liberal Arts Degree from LaSalle Law School (Off-Campus).

She was a member of Altama Presbyterian Church in Brunswick and attended First Baptist Church of Richmond Hill.  Carolyn worked for the United States Commissioner, U.S. District  Court as a Deputy Clerk for many years before retiring in 1998.  She then worked as the Church Administrator for Altama Presbyterian Church until 2013.

Carolyn was a member of the Federal Court Clerks' Association, member and Elder of Altama Presbyterian Church, and was former president of the Okefenokee Business & Professional Women's Club in Waycross.

She was a published poet, recognized in "Personalities of the South" and "World Who's Who of Women.  She was an avid gardener, seamstress, and she enjoyed crafts.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Kiley and a sister, Clara Faye Harrison.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, John C. Stone of Richmond Hill; step-children, Doyace Stone (Mary) of Savannah, Debra Dixon of Pooler, John Larkin Stone (Karon) of Richmond Hill, Donnie Stone (Katrina) of Hephzibah, and Lesa Hall (Steven) of Savannah; a sister, Celeste Potts (Larry); brothers, Gilbert Franklin Rowland (Alice), and David Rowland (Joyce); 2 grandchildren, John and JoAnna Kiley; 1 great-grandchild, Alex Kiley; a step-granddaughter, Jennifer Williams (Tony); and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 9, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Richmond Hill with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be held at 3:30 p.m at Kettle Creek Cemetery in Waycross, Ga.
