Carolyn Cowart passed away on August 8, 2023 at the age of 89 due to a long battle with Dementia. Carolyn was the daughter of Curtis and Bertie Mangum of Tattnall County, Ga. She had one sister, Uldine Mikell and brother-in-law J.L. Mikell of Jesup. She was a homemaker who adored her husband of 60 years until his death in 2012. Nothing was more important to Carolyn than her family. She married Drennon Cowart and was a supportive Air Force wife through all of the moves during their career. She made sure the family stayed active in church no matter where they lived. Carolyn and Drennon were founding members of Skidaway Island Baptist Church and later became members of First Baptist Church of Richmond Hill.

Carolyn is survived her son Donald Cowart of Richmond Hill, her daughter Terrie Houghton (Herb) of Richmond Hill, granddaughters Lyndsey Cowart (John) of Savannah, Lydia Cowart (Chris) of Fayetteville, NC and grandsons Kasey Houghton (Ruma) of Rome, GA, Spencer Houghton of Richmond Hill, Evan Houghton of Richmond Hill, and one great-granddaughter Hannah Scicli of Fayetteville, NC. Carolyn is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is Friday August 11, 2023 at 10:30 am with the funeral service following at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church in Richmond Hill. The graveside service will be at the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery at 2:30.
