Carol C. Hartley, of Richmond Hill, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on August 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and with the support of Hospice care.

A gifted artist, inspiring teacher, and vibrant soul, Carol touched countless lives through her creativity, kindness, and unwavering dedication to the arts and education.

Carol was born on October 19, 1946, in Hanover, New Hampshire. From an early age, her life was shaped by imagination and artistry. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Swain School of Design in Massachusetts and later received her Georgia Teaching Certificate in Art. Over the course of 31 years, she taught art in the public school system, where her classroom became a place of inspiration and encouragement for generations of students.

A descendant of renowned illustrator Charles Dana Gibson, Carol inherited not only the talent of her ancestors but also their passion. She brought that legacy to life in every painting, every lesson, and every community she touched. In 2010, Carol founded "Picasso For A Night," a creative painting experience that quickly became a local favorite in Savannah and Richmond Hill. Through these workshops, she created a welcoming space where people of all skill levels could connect with their inner artist and leave with both a painting and a smile. Her classes were filled with joy, energy, and the same warmth she brought to all aspects of her life.

Carol was a featured speaker, mentor, and leader in the Savannah art scene. Her passion for making art accessible and meaningful helped build a strong and supportive creative community. She shared not only her immense talent but also her belief that art should be for everyone. Carol's faith was an important part of her life. She was an active and devoted member of Christ Church, Savannah, GA, where she found joy, fellowship, and spiritual strength. Above all, Carol was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend.

She is survived by her three sons: Dustin A. Hartley, Garrett B. Hartley (married to Kelli Hartley), and Vincent B. Hartley (married to Meghan Hartley). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Hayden Hartley, Meredith Hartley, Ollie Hartley, and Ian Hartley. Her love, humor, and generosity will live on through her family and the many lives she touched.

A celebration of Carol's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Christ Church, 28 Bull Street, Savannah, GA. The family will receive friends in the Undercroft of Christ Church immediately following the service.
