Bobby Roland Tuten, 81, of Richmond Hill, GA went to heaven peacefully at his home on November 27, 2022. He was born on October 6, 1941, to the late Eric Roland and Kate Cole Tuten in Savannah, GA. He graduated with H.V. Jenkins High School's first graduating class in1959.

Bobby hired out at 18 with the Seaboard Airline Railroad (CSX). He was a true railroad man, working in many roles both in the yard and on the road, ranked in seniority, and served as the Treasurer of the United Transportation Union 1031 for many years. Considered a legend, it's been said of him that he did the work of three men and could carry a crosstie over his shoulder. He retired after 40+ years of service, but always remained close to his railroad family and fellow retirees.

He married Norma, his wife of 44 years, in 1978. Together they moved to Richmond Hill and built their home on the Tivoli River in 1986. There Bobby enjoyed life on the river, shrimping and crabbing, "drinking and telling lies" with the neighbors, and golf cart rides with his grandkids - always with his favorite dog by his side. He was always fixing something in his workshop, helping with school projects and homecoming floats, or loaning out tools - serving as the neighborhood Home Depot.

Bobby never missed an opportunity to tell a good joke – some cleaner than others. He loved hosting and cooking and was most known for his low country boils and his fish fries with grits and hushpuppies. He never turned down an adventure, including some epic hunting and fishing trips to Costa Rica, Alaska, South Dakota, and Lake Santee. Truth be told, he just enjoyed the fellowship and time well spent with family and friends.

Bobby loved his family deeply and leaves behind an incredible legacy. Always proud to take a phone call asking for detailed instructions on a project or recipe. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone without expecting a single thing in return. He was the truest of friends. He was Santa Claus. If you knew Bobby, you knew that the word "no" was not in his vocabulary. Even in his last days, he was still placing phone calls and making things happen for others.

As a 25-year member of the Marine Rescue Squadron 7A, he went out on many missions to help a boater in need. He was a member of the Masonic Bryan Lodge 303 and the Hillbilly Unit of the Alee Temple Shriners. As a "Road Runner" for more than 7 years, he drove countless miles transporting children and their families to Shriners Children's Hospitals; in 2017 alone, he logged 25 trips and 16,695 miles. Bobby was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Richmond Hill, and never missed Sunday School if he could help it.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Josephine Morrow, Dorothy Glisson, Elizabeth Wainwright, and his special aunt, Eula Tuten Wilson, who raised him. He is survived by his wife, Norma, two daughters, Lauren Jaudon (Johnathan) of Dawsonville and Emily Cooper (Andrew) of Marietta, and a son, Jonathan Tuten of Charleston, five grandchildren, Jax (11) and Jett (9) Tuten, Jackson (4), Wyatt (1) and Audrey Kate (3 months) Cooper, sister Margie Bazemore (Britt), aunt Mary Ennis, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other close family members.

Visitation will be held at 11:00 am with a memorial service to follow at 12:30 pm, Friday, December 2nd at First Baptist Church of Richmond Hill. Masonic rites will be held at 10:00 am at the Richmond Hill Funeral Home.
