Mrs. Arlene Chapman Hendrix departed this world Friday 2/23/24 to be in the presence of our Lord.  She was born 1939 in Savannah, GA and lived most of her life in Richmond Hill, GA and Sapphire, NC.

Arlene dedicated her life as a child to Jesus Christ & she lived a life of Christian faith & service.

She was an accomplished business woman beginning her work life at the age of 15.  She retired in 1996 from Union Camp Corporation as Human Resource Director after 36 years of service.  She graduated in 1991 with BA in Psychology (Armstrong Atlantic University).  In 2023, she earned a Certificate of Biblical Studies from the Master's College of Georgia (Life Springs Worship Center).

Throughout her life, Arlene volunteered her time to many non-profit groups.  She served in several capacities at both her churches, Richmond Hill United Methodist Church and Lake Toxaway United Methodist Church.  She especially loved being a youth Sunday school teacher & was proud to have 4 of her students become ministers.  She served & held leadership roles on Sapphire Valley Master Association Board (NC), Cashiers' Historical Society (NC), Holly Forest Homeowners' Board (NC), Joy Garden Tour (NC), RH Lion's Club, RH Republican Committee & Edisto Island Bay Point Board (SC).  She was proud to be a member of the Richmond Hill Senior Citizens group.

Arlene was adventurous and what a life she lived!  She & Emmit visited all 50 United States and made several international trips.  By her example, she insured her family knew the importance of life experiences and never neglected to include her many friends when there was an adventure to be had.  Her life was a Christian testament of faith & devotion to those who had the privilege to know & love her.

She was predeceased by her husband & soul mate Emmit Hendrix Jr, son Mark Steven Hendrix, parents Aldine R Chapman, Ethel Worth Chapman & Mary Ford Chapman, brother Dean Chapman and sisters Ruth Lemaire & Anne Lynn.  She leaves behind her children Ricky (Trisha) Hendrix, Lisa (Joe) Winter, grandchildren Joe Steven (Kristi) Winter, Pete (J Lynn) Williamson, Travas (Laura) Williamson, Drew (Brandon) Fulton and Brian (Amanda) Winter, and 9 great-grandchildren, Sarah & Stephanie, Rylie, Emma, Hudson & Harper, Landon & Anna Claire, and Lily, her sister Delores Long and many nieces & nephews.

The family appreciates the love, prayers and devotion to her care provided by extended family, her devoted friends and Hospice professionals Betty & Cassandra.

Service will be held Monday 2/26/24 at 2pm at Richmond Hill United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior to service (1-2pm).

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Richmond Hill Lions Club, Richmond Hill Senior Center, RHUMC Seekers Sunday School Class, and the Yada Yada's.
