Allen Lee Tremain was born in Ocala, FL on August 28, 1944, to Wilbur and Hazel (nee Thyng) Tremain, joining his sister Edith (Farless, August 16, 1937-August 28, 1983). Growing up as the son of a carpenter and a Pastor took their family all over the south, including areas throughout Florida and Tennessee.

Allen graduated from Southeast High School in Bradenton, FL in 1964, and began working in the construction industry and the in the orange groves throughout Central Florida. When his draft number came up, the draft board chose NOT to enlist him in the military and offered him the alternative service of forest fire fighting for the State of Florida, which launched his 28-year career of public service.

In 1971, he met Linda (nee Hunt) and they were married on Thanksgiving weekend in Orlando, Florida. They lived in Central Florida for the next 10 years, and welcomed their only child, Cathy (Hicks) in 1976.

In 1981, the Forest Service moved the family to a new post in Overstreet Florida, where he would finish his career in the forest service. During that time, Linda completed her education and began a career teaching, with the encouragement and support of her husband, who quickly became a fixture at school events and assisting with projects when available.

In 1994, Allen retired from the Forest Service, and the family moved to Ellijay, Georgia, where Linda taught until 2016. Allen worked at Gilmer Middle School until he fully retired in 2006.

In Allen's youth, he loved baseball and basketball, and would ride his bicycle for hours each day. As a young adult, he loved "Big Engines and Big Waves," working on race cars and surfing off Daytona Beach. As a family, there were cross-country adventures, many hours spent supporting and encouraging Cathy, impromptu camping trips, and countless hours spent fishing off the pier on Mexico Beach, Florida. In Ellijay, Allen's efforts were spent supporting Linda's profession, serving in leadership with the Apple Country Auto Club, and planning summer adventures to Washington, Utah, and eventually a dream road trip to Alaska.

In 2016, life took Allen and Linda to Washington state for a 4-year residence with Cathy and her family. Eventually, in 2021 Allen, Linda and Cathy (and her children Andrew and Jake) moved back across country to settle in coastal Georgia in Midway.

Allen passed away on April 3, 2022, of a heart attack, and is survived by his wife Linda, their daughter Cathy (Andrew and Jake), his life-long friend Alan Terrell, his nephew Sherman Farless (Lois) his niece Kris Heyer (James) and his nieces and nephews. (Faith, Susanna, Bradford, Josh, Andrew, and several great-nieces and nephews).

A Celebration of Life will be held at New Life Church in Richmond Hill on April 23 2022 at 2pm. Light refreshments to follow.
